    This is not a question. Just wanted to let you know how happy I was to see a new recipe posted. I was afraid that you were done with doing this; too busy with other things. Since your previous last post, I had senet three other people to your site.

    Keep the good recipes coming! We love trying them!

    Hi Kristen,

    Just wanted to let you know how much we love your site. We’ve tried many recipes and loved them all. I’ve also seent friends to your site. They are also big fans.

    Having said that, Jim and I were wondering if you have a good recipe for Swedish meatballs? I did have Aunt Viola’s at one time, but cannot find it.

      Thanks Aunt Mary–so nice to hear from you :) I have not posted a traditional Swedish Meatball recipe on the site yet. But I’ll tell you a “cheater” recipe that I’ve used several times. Make (or buy) any beef meatballs that you choose. Fry them up in a large skillet with olive oil with some diced onion. Remove the meatballs (once cooked thru and browned on all sides) and set aside to keep warm. To the same skillet, add two packets of beef gravy mix and water (as directed on the package). Whisk together and scrape up any bits of browned meatball from bottom of skillet. Cook until thick, then remove from heat. Stir in about 1 cup sour cream and add black pepper. Once that’s all combined return meatballs to skillet and warm over low heat until heated through (but do not boil). Serve meatballs and sauce over egg noodles. Super easy and tasty too!

    I have been looking for years for a really good pumpkin soup. Pumpkin season is here. Do you have a recipe for one? The thick kind, not the thin runny kind. Had it in Australia and loved it. By the way, I am Tara’s mom and love your site.

    Hi Kristen; Erin may have told you that Ali is pregnant with Twins! I’m trying to get some recipes together that freeze well for the busy time we’re headed toward! Do you have some good ones? Remember, Ali is vegetarian; Mike is a good cook, so just adds meat, etc. to a dish.

    HEY. I searched for fish and came up with only salmon… Start experimenting with some white fishys please!!! :)

      You caught me! It\’s true–I only cook salmon :) My biggest excuse is that I can\’t read labels here so I never know what kind of whitefish to buy. At least salmon I can recognize. I don\’t like really \”fishy\” fish, and if I just grab a whitefish it may surprise me, ya know? Oh, and also, I\’m scarred from an incident years ago, when I bought orange roughy and it was spoiled! But we only discovered that after eating part of it. So, there you go, all my reasons for sticking with salmon!!!

        HA! Well, I went to our store and picked the fattest whitefish fillet that I saw. I have no idea what it was called… but it was great! Even Andrea ate it all up. Of course it was the most expensive… So go to the store, buy the fattest white fish that doesn’t look slimey, it’s probably the most expensive… :) I just did the typical, “dip in egg and coat with bread crumbs, seasonings, flour… and fry it” It was great, but kinda boring… I’m sure you could fix it!

        My friend went to an aquarium in DK and they sold a chart of all the fish names in the different languages. It was meant to help ID the fish in the tanks for you, but I used it all the time at the grocery store… until I lost in during the last move. :(

      Sorry Alicia, but I don\’t yet. I am actually quite bad at making butter/sugar cookies for cutting out into shapes. Gotta get practicing and perfect a recipe. When I do, I\’ll let you know!!

    I need HERB HELP. :) Which ones go together? I served plain boiled potatoes last night for dinner because I couldn’t decide what to put on them and I didn’t want to ruin them!

      Try fresh flat leaf parsley on your boiled potatoes. After boiling the potatoes, put them in a hot skillet with butter and saute them until lightly browned. Then toss with fresh chopped parsley, salt and pepper. This is how my German Grandma always made potatoes. Yummy!

    Hey! I’m having problems printing recipes out. Is there a “go to print” button” here that I’m missing? Maybe it’s just my computer but when I print everything but the recipes comes out!

      Hey Becky,
      There’s a green “print” button on the page, under each individual post. That should only print the recipe you’re looking at. Have you been clicking that?? If not, give it a try and hopefully that helps you out!

    Do you have any good slow-cooker (crock pot) recipes, or websites, to recommend? My friend Erin had a baby boy in January — she went back to work this month and is dealing with the new mom time crunch (I know you can relate!) She’s looking for easy, nutritious recipes she can throw in the crock pot before heading off to work in the morning.

    What can I substitute for “cider vinegar”? I’m looking at a couple chicken recipes for tonight’s dinner and don’t have that kind of vinegar in my cupboard.
    I have “rice vinegar” and “red wine vinegar” – will either of those work?

      You could use white wine vinegar, if you want it a bit more tangy. Or use rice vinegar if you want it a bit more sweet. Cider vinegar is right in the middle of sweet and tangy. Good luck!

    This is actually a website related question. Your site looks great by-the-way and although I visited for theme purposes, I’m going to try a couple of your recipes.
    I found you at the bavotasan support forum and you had the same problems with slide show tha I am having: my pisc are either to lg, covering post title below or, when I resolve that issue, they are too narrow leaving a gray gap on the side.
    Your slides look great, would you care to share your wisdom?

      I found that by re-sizing the pics to 450×250 they fit the slideshow. It’s a bit more work, but the results look good. Glad you liked my site :)
